December 1, 2017 - Crews will work Monday, December 4 through Thursday, December 7, from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning to set up the new pattern and close the south sidewalk, periodically reducing Chestnut Street to a single lane between the river bridge and 23rd Street.
The new pattern on Chestnut Street will be in place for approximately 12 months while crews rehabilitate the south side of the Chestnut Street arch bridge over 24th Street.
24th Street also will be closed to motorists and pedestrians at the Chestnut Street overpass. Access to homes and business on the south side of Chestnut Street will be maintained during construction.
The new pattern will narrow the lane widths on Chestnut Street to 10 feet and shift the two travel lanes to the north from the east side of the river to 23rd Street. The south sidewalk on Chestnut Street also will be closed, and parking will be eliminated on the north side of Chestnut Street between the river and 23rd Street.
The new pattern, which will allow crews to begin rehabilitation of the south side of the Chestnut Street arch bridge over 24th Street, will be in place for approximately 12 months.
